Book, Music and Lyrics by Jay Turvey & Paul Sportelli
33 1/3 is about the magical power of records. It's about lying on the shag carpet of your bedroom floor and being inspired to rebel, to love, to dream.
It's 1974 and Jules and his best friend Jill escape their small-town teenage existence by listening to Joni Mitchell, James Taylor and other artists of the '70s. Francis, a rebellious young gay man enters their lives and things begin to shift. Jules' father is confronted with a gay son coming of age. Jill turns her attentions toward Victor, a delinquent student from a broken home. All four young people experience a tumultuous New Year's Eve and after that nothing will be the same. Jules makes a decision that will change his life and all those around him.
Anything seems possible at 33 1/3, the speed of dreams.
